Thank you, Bishop Todd, for this enlivening post. You wrote, "Resurrection Life is not just the final, decisive word against death; it is the pivotal, generative word on living. A significant paradox is at play here: Resurrection Life begins with following Jesus into death—death to our old self."

I used to see this as entirely negative and attempted erasure or suppression of self. But when I was unaware of myself, I could not see the ways I needed to say "no" to myself and become FREE, as you said. I love gaining greater self-control and a clear conscience.
