That is a great point, Mark! I come from a family with many police officers in it. And most every time I hear the siren of a first responder I thank God for them and pray for any person they are helping. Thank you for reminding us!
Bishop Todd Hunter : Matthew 5:9 - “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” There are over 720,000 full time Police/Peace Officers caring for and saving strangers everyday.
You, Bishop, chose to sign onto a letter with Steve Wood denigrating police with a broad brush based on 3 media investigations of regrettable situation outcomes. You indicated that ACNA members should support BLM. Shame on you. I don’t judge all bishops based on disgusting cases like Stewart Ruch (another letter signer). It’s time for the clergy to man up and support over 720,000 peacemakers that often give the ultimate sacrifice.
Thank you for reminding us of our mission both individually and as the church. When we feel overwhelmed, helping the one is 100% for that one. You may not change the world but you changed their world. This has encouraged me to pick back up the elder care initiative. They are so forgotten in their forever LTC homes. Especially ones without means of support.
Thank you so much for this thought provoking article. In these very hard and confusing times it is easy to feel helpless in knowing what to do. Your instructions to do simple wise acts of kindness daily gives us a starting point. We are to seek justice, show mercy, and be humble. This is a great reminder of who Jesus is and wants us to be.
You are forgetting some Mother Theresa’s that we see everyday but their deeds go unnoticed or as they say “none so blind as those that will not see”.
Everyday and night I see men and women, police officers , racing towards danger in a self sacrificial form of “agape” to help or possibly save people that save people in a crisis or violent situation. I watch them serve others in places most people avoid over and over again. The media has labeled them racist and brutal with a full coverage brush. I see the 99.99% of police officers that put their life on the line everyday on a job where they will never get rich or respected. Many can’t make it to church on Sunday because they’re working or just finished a night shift. In some cases, Bishop, you are certainly preaching to the choir.

Thank you for not making this a political statement but a kingdom mandate
Inspired writing that desperately need sharing ❤️👍
