Lent is a 40-day fasting season in the church year that leads to Easter. It can seem like a long, hard journey. We feel the need for stepping stones: for solid, secure steps to reach a faithful, spiritually fruitful practice of Lent.
Starting tomorrow, Ash Wednesday, and every day until Easter, I am offering Lent: One Word at a Time. These daily Lenten reflections are very short. They offer small stepping stones on the path of Lent, a space to sit with the word(s) that the Word of Life is highlighting in your heart, mind, emotions, or soul.
We all know words have power. Lately I’ve been experimenting by using fewer words to say something important. I am trying to give my writing a slower pace with the hope that the spaces between the words will be a hospitable expanse for you and the Holy Spirit to linger together. Just as Lent creates space to turn our hearts toward Jesus, my prayer is that these words would reflect and aid that goal.
May these Lenten words of inspiration, these ideas and musings to ponder, be the steady stepping stones you need to pursue transformation into Christlikeness.
Lent: One Word at a Time will be offered to paid subscribers. If you are not already a paid subscriber, considering joining and let’s move toward Jesus one word at a time.
